The name originates etymologically from the Latin word Remnius and the Etruscan word Remne indicating the name given to the parish-owned land, as mentioned in a document dating back to 715 A.D.
A blend of three non-adjacent vineyards (Santo Pietro, Castagno Vecchio, and Pian dei Cerri) on the southwestern side of the denomination, surrounding the parish church of Santa Restituta. The soils date to the Eocene age and consist mainly of clay and limestone, with a more significant presence of pebbles and galestro in Pian dei Cerri, of sand in Castagno Vecchio, and of tuff and marine fossils in Santo Pietro.
The grapes from the different vineyards are fermented and macerated separately; after 24 months of ageing in oak, they are blended and then aged for another 6 months in concrete.
Serve in Syrah/Shiraz glasses at a serving temperature between 16° – 18°C
