A powerful and elegant single-vineyard white wine from Burgenland, Austria, made from 100% Grüner Veltliner. The grapes come from Kirchberg, one of Höpler’s most important and historic vineyards in Winden am See. Originally planted by Cistercian monks in 1203, the south-eastern facing site benefits from the mild Pannonian climate and the cooling influence of Lake Neusiedl. The vines grow in mineral-rich, calcareous soils with sand, gravel and limestone.

Produced by Höpler, this wine comes from around 45-year-old vines, with the grapes picked late in the season to achieve greater concentration and ripeness. The wine is matured for six months in large, used French oak, giving it additional depth and texture while allowing the characteristic freshness and spice of Grüner Veltliner to remain prominent.

Bright straw yellow in colour, Kirchberg offers expressive aromas of orange peel, yellow apple and ripe exotic fruit. On the palate, it is rich and textured, with a mineral character, elegant almond notes and a beautifully balanced freshness. More concentrated and full-bodied than a classic Grüner Veltliner, it combines ripe fruit with subtle oak influence and a long, refined finish.

A sophisticated dry white wine, excellent with spicy dishes, smoked fish and pâté. Its richness and mineral character also make it a wonderful match for richer seafood dishes, poultry and mature soft cheeses.
